FEDPOLYNEK’S
SECOND SEMESTER (MORNING) EXAMINATION
The regular students of Federal Polytechnic Nekede Owerri have been in serious suspense since the strike action embarked by
ASUP has delayed their examination, the question rising from thousands of
students now is WILL THE EXAMINATION
HOLD ON THE 6TH OF JANUARY 2014?
Most of the students have had to take to mini
jobs as others went into social ills and vices to keep body and soul together,
this has resulted to the fact that most of them do not read again and those who
force themselves to read hardly understands hence they have lost the appetite
to study.
A week ago, the management of the school
called on the part-time students to come and write their Examinations which
they concluded yesterday being 23rd of December 2013. Though it
started like a rumor, it later manifested to be truth as some students who doubted
the certainty of the sudden examination missed their first peppers.
Warning is ringing like a stubborn bell to all regular students who
are still hearing the rumor that their examination may start on the 6th
of January 2014 to get prepared as no one knows if the rumor will turn out to
be truth as it happened in the case of their par-time counterparts.
Though the Management of the school has not
declared their stand on whether the examination for Morning students will hold
on the rumored date or not, students should be wary of the fact that the
current Management takes drastic decisions at will and will not hesitate to do
that this time if need be.
On a second note, the fact that ASUP and
Federal Government of Nigeria are now meeting to settle their issues is a clear
evidence that no academic strike in Nigeria will last beyond January 2014.
Therefore all Polytechnic Students are hereby
advised to study as their examinations MUST hold by January 2014.
A close source to the supervising Minister of
education (Barr Nyesom Nwike) said that all arrangements to call of the strike
will be concluded after the yuletide period next week.
Meanwhile, the National Association of
Polytechnic Students has threatened to stampede the office of the Minister of
education and that of the President Ebele Goodluck Jonathan on the 15th
of January 2014 if the strike was not called off before then.
